Giorgos Mazonakis: 'Illegal' Confinement and Accusations Against Family

Singer Giorgos Mazonakis denounces an 'illegal' confinement at Dromokaiteio and announced lawsuits against his family. According to his lawyer, Giorgos Merkoulidis, the confinement was 'irregular and illegal'.
Mazonakis claims that financial disputes are behind the case. The family, in a statement, cites concern for his mental health, while emphasizing that his sister, Vaso Mazonakis, did not participate in the application for involuntary hospitalization.
The singer's lawyer claims that his sisters pressured doctors to delay his release. 'Giorgos' relations with his parents and sisters have been non-existent for two years,' Merkoulidis noted.
The Mazonakis family stated in their announcement that on August 4, 2025, an application for involuntary examination was submitted by the mother, Klio Mazonakis, and the sister, Maria Mazonakis, with the consent of the father, Manolis Mazonakis.
