Kate Winslet Joins 'The Hunt for Gollum' Movie

Kate Winslet is set to star in The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. The cast will also include Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, and Andy Serkis.

Andy Serkis and Peter Jackson spent the past year convincing Winslet to join the film, which will require filming in New Zealand from late May to October. Winslet previously worked in New Zealand on the film Heavenly Creatures (1994).

The new film focuses on Aragorn's mission to locate Gollum before he reveals the location of the Ring to Sauron. The story takes place between The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring and is based on notes by Tolkien.
