Hilary Duff to Star in 'Pretty Ugly' Series

Hilary Duff will star in the new Hulu series, 'Pretty Ugly,' where she will also serve as executive producer. The script is by Kirker Butler, inspired by his 2015 novel of the same name, and the direction is by Silver Tree.

According to Deadline, Duff will play Miranda Miller, a former child beauty pageant 'queen' who wants to make her 10-year-old daughter, Bailey, the most successful contestant in the US. Miller dreams of collaborations with cosmetics companies and a television career.

Bailey, who has been participating in contests since she was three months old, no longer wants to continue. Her mother, seven months pregnant, is already planning the career of her unborn child as well.

Duff became known from the Disney Channel series, 'Lizzie McGuire,' and participated in 'Cheaper by the Dozen,' 'A Cinderella Story,' and 'Agent Cody Banks.' She also starred in the series 'Younger' and was a producer and star in 'How I Met Your Father.'
