Marina Satti: 'I was ashamed when my dad came to pick me up from tutoring'

Singer Marina Satti spoke about her childhood insecurities and stereotypes at a Women's Forum event held on Saturday, March 14. Excerpts were shown on the show 'Rantevou to SK' on Sunday, March 15.
Marina Satti stated that she felt ashamed when her father, who was from Sudan, took her to tutoring. She feared the reaction of her classmates due to her father's origin.
'Because my dad was black and was from Sudan, I was ashamed when I was little and he came to pick me up from tutoring. I didn't know how my classmates would take it and I was afraid,' she said.
The singer also referred to her initial difficulty in accepting herself as a singer, while expressing her refusal to work in nightclubs.
Regarding stereotypes, Marina Satti stated: 'There are stereotypes everywhere in life. Growing up, I try to concentrate on what I feel and what I believe'.
