On September 25, 2024, Marinella collapsed on stage at the Herodeion while performing the song "Ta logia einai peritta." She had only managed to sing two songs before the incident. She was transferred to "Ygeia" hospital, where it was diagnosed that she had suffered a stroke.

She was hospitalized until January 21, 2025, and then returned to her home, where she passed away. Her loss marks the end of a significant journey in Greek song.
