Markella Giannatou: 'I Thought I Was Dying from an Anxiety Attack'

Actress Markella Giannatou spoke about her experiences with anxiety attacks, revealing that she once visited an emergency hospital believing she was dying.
In an interview on the show 'Happy Day,' Giannatou mentioned that she has been in psychoanalysis for the past 14 years, which has significantly improved her quality of life. She described that during the anxiety attacks, she felt intense shortness of breath and believed she would die. After visiting various pulmonologists, a doctor at 'Sotiria' hospital advised her to talk to a psychiatrist.
'I had started having anxiety attacks. I was getting shortness of breath and thought I was going to die… A doctor told me to talk to a psychiatrist. It has helped me a lot,' said Markella Giannatou.
The actress added that she is stressed by everyday life, practical issues, and bureaucracy, and has become less tolerant of others' lateness.
