Nemo: Breaks Eurovision Trophy & Returns it to EBU Wrapped in Toilet Paper

Nemo, who won the 2024 Eurovision for Switzerland, has returned the trophy to the EBU, as previously announced, in protest of Israel's participation.
Nemo had stated in December 2025 that they would return the trophy if the EBU allowed Israel's participation. In an Instagram post, they mentioned that this decision stems from the values that Eurovision represents.
According to blick.ch, the trophy arrived in Geneva broken and wrapped in toilet paper. The EBU did not deny the fact, expressing regret for the return of the trophy and emphasizing that they respect Nemo's views.
This move comes at a difficult time for the competition, with strong reactions to Israel's participation. Countries such as Ireland, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Spain have announced that they will not participate.
