Actress Eleni Karpeta, Founder of Stoa Theater, Passes Away

Actress and director Eleni Karpeta, who founded the Stoa Theater, has passed away. The news was announced by her colleague, Evdokimos Tsolakidis, through social media.
Eleni Karpeta was born in 1937 in Chiliadou, Fthiotida, and was a graduate of the National Theater School. In 1971, she founded the Stoa Theater in Zografou with actor Thanasis Papageorgiou, from which she departed in 1974.
She acted in and directed many performances of the National Theatre of Northern Greece (KTBE) and taught acting there from 1974 to 1986. She lived permanently in Thessaloniki. She was married to Nikos Xanthopoulos, with whom she had a son.
Evdokimos Tsolakidis wrote on his personal Instagram account: "Eleni Karpeta has passed away. My first teacher at the KTBE school. [...] Eleni Karpeta founded the Stoa Theater. Goodbye, my teacher."
