Vaso Kazantzidi: 'I didn't fall in love with Stelios at first sight'

Vaso Kazantzidi, the widow of Stelios Kazantzidis, spoke about her acquaintance with the late artist in an interview on the show 'Tet-a-Tet' in 1978.

As she mentioned, she did not fall in love with him at first sight, but gradually, through their dates. 'I didn't fall in love with Stelios, I didn't see him and say 'I'm dying', I met him as an artist,' she said characteristically.

Their first meeting took place in a tavern, where his friends were waiting for him after his arrival from Germany. 'When he suggested that we stay together, I told him that I have a child and he replied 'it doesn't bother me at all'. We lived together for 4 years and love came along the way,' she added.

Vaso Kazantzidi also described their first date, which took place in Nea Plagia Halkidiki, where Stelios had arranged to fish with his company.
