Anastasia Tasoula, 27, the first patient in Greece with cystic fibrosis to awaken after 221 days in sedation, has passed away. The news of her death was announced by her family on social media.

Anastasia, who studied psychology, worked as a photographer and danced Latin professionally, had mentioned Emma Karyotaki, the 21-year-old from Thessaloniki who died in a traffic accident, saying that she had expressed her desire to donate her organs after a post by Anastasia.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, November 14, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ilioupoli Cemetery.

Cystic fibrosis is the most common hereditary disease in Greece, with approximately 800 patients and 500,000 carriers.
