Reactions to Presenter at Anti-Occupation Event in Famagusta

Reactions were sparked by the remarks of Andreas Kazamias, a former municipal councilor, at the anti-occupation event of the Municipality of Famagusta. The event took place last Saturday with the presence of political leaders.
Mr. Kazamias referred to missed opportunities for a solution to the Cyprus problem and criticized the handling of the recent deadly fire. "We are very angry, Mr. President... we are tired of the same promises," he stated.
Viktoras Papadopoulos commented that anti-occupation events should promote unity for the liberation and reunification of the island.
Reactions from ELAM and DIKO:
ELAM expressed a strong reaction, accusing the presenter of promoting the positions of the occupier and that the Municipality of Famagusta should not be used as a tool to "whitewash" Turkey. In their statement, they emphasized that anti-occupation events are a cry of resistance and not reconciliation festivals.
The DIKO Municipal Group of Famagusta distanced itself from the presenter's behavior, emphasizing that he attempted to exploit the event politically with divisive rhetoric.
