Kostas Sloukas spoke upon the Greek national team's departure for Cyprus ahead of Eurobasket 2025.

Referring to the Greek national basketball team's premiere in Eurobasket 2025 (August 28 against Italy), Sloukas stated: "It's a big challenge. We go in with our heads down and only look at the first game. Generally, there is a restrained optimism."

Regarding whether the first place in the group is necessary, he emphasized: "No, it's not a must. Of course, we want to be first or second in the first phase of the tournament. But what we need to do is improve game by game and build character."

About whether he feels a "must" due to the absence of a medal since 2009, he said: "The 'must' is always there when I play with the National Team. I don't look at whether it's the last tournament for me or for our generation. What we need to do is put our soul into it as we do in every tournament."

Regarding the guard positions, he commented: "We don't have as much of a problem as you discuss. There are quality players like Toliopoulos. The important thing for us is to be competitive and have consistency."
