A. Skourtopoulos Wins Appeal: Hellenic Basketball Federation to Pay ā¬200,000

Athanasios Skourtopoulos has won his appeal against the Hellenic Basketball Federation (EOK). The court ruled that the EOK must pay him ā¬200,000.
Skourtopoulos, a former national team coach, was at the helm of the men's national team from 2018 to 2021, and previously served as an assistant to Fotis Katsikaris and Kostas Missas for five years.
The dispute arose when the new EOK administration, headed by Vangelis Liolios, did not recognize the renewal of Skourtopoulos' contract, leading to its termination and a legal battle.
Initially, the Court of First Instance had rejected Skourtopoulos' request, but the Court of Appeal overturned the decision, ruling the termination of the cooperation illegal. The EOK appealed to the Supreme Court, which was rejected.
The EOK is obliged to pay Skourtopoulos the amount of ā¬200,000, corresponding to the salaries of the two-year contract and compensation for moral damage.
