Dimitris Zarzavatsidis, Voula Patoulidou's Husband, Passes Away

Dimitris Zarzavatsidis, Olympian and weightlifting coach, and husband of Voula Patoulidou, has passed away. The news was announced by Patoulidou herself via a post on Instagram.
In her post, Voula Patoulidou referred to Dimitris Zarzavatsidis as her person, her husband, her friend, her partner, the father of her child, and her support. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at 16:30, at the Holy Church of Agios Panteleimonas Panorama. The family requests that instead of wreaths, donations be made to the Association of Parents of Children with Neoplastic Diseases "LAMPSI".
Dimitris Zarzavatsidis was born on January 15, 1956, in Kato Toumba, Thessaloniki. He was a Greek champion and Balkan champion in weightlifting, and participated in the Moscow Olympic Games in 1980.
During his career, he broke many Greek records and excelled in international competitions. After retiring from active duty, he became a coach, promoting many athletes.
Dimitris Zarzavatsidis also had significant scientific activity, with participation in conferences and writing books on weightlifting. He taught at the TEFAA of AUTH and contributed to the development of the sport in Greece.
