Dimitris Zarzavatsidis Passes Away, Husband of Voula Patoulidou

Dimitris Zarzavatsidis, a weightlifting champion and husband of Voula Patoulidou, has passed away after a long battle with cancer. His funeral will be held today at 17:30 at the Agios Panteleimonas Panorama Church.
Dimitris Zarzavatsidis was born on January 15, 1956, in Thessaloniki. He was a distinguished weightlifter, participating in the 1980 Moscow Olympics. He also worked as an instructor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki's Department of Physical Education and Sports Science and as a coach for national youth teams.
Voula Patoulidou bid farewell to her husband with a touching post on Facebook. Political and sports figures expressed their condolences. The Hellenic Weightlifting Federation issued a statement on his passing.
The Mayor of Thessaloniki, Stelios Angeloudis, and the administration of Kaftanzoglio Stadium also expressed their condolences.
The family requests that, in lieu of wreaths, donations be made to the Association of Parents of Children with Neoplastic Diseases "LAMPSI".
