Christou: 'I wasn't calm' after the 100m backstroke final

Apostolos Christou expressed his disappointment after the 100m backstroke final at the World Aquatics Championships, where he finished 8th with a time of 52.62.
'I am not satisfied because I wanted to swim faster than yesterday, regardless of the position I would take,' said Christou, emphasizing that his goal was to improve his performance.
Referring to his race, he said: 'In the 50m turn I tried to enter strongly, but then I was out of it and could not continue at the pace of the medal. I wasn't calm today.'
Christou is now focusing on the 50m backstroke, where he hopes for a better performance: 'In the next three days I will rest and try to enter the final and in the 50m backstroke to claim something better than the eighth place.'
