EU Bans TPO in Gel Nail Polishes Due to Mutagenic Effects

As of September 1st, the European Union has banned the substance TPO (trimethylbenzoyl diphenylphosphine oxide) in gel nail polishes.
The decision was based on studies indicating that TPO can cause fertility problems and negatively affect reproductive health, classifying it as carcinogenic, mutagenic, or toxic for reproduction.
TPO is used to give nails shine and dry them quickly under ultraviolet or LED light. Not all gel polishes contain TPO, but many do.
