Damianos: Hepatitis Management is a Priority

For the Ministry of Health, the management of hepatitis is a priority, stated the Minister of Health Michalis Damianos at the Scientific Conference for World Hepatitis Day. In this context, the Council of Ministers approved the reconstitution of the National Committee for combating all Viral Hepatitis.
It was also announced that a position has been announced for a second doctor to be trained in hepatology at the University Hospital Tubingen in Germany. The Minister of Health emphasized that, with the expertise of the committee members, the pillars and goals will be set in the National Strategic Action Plan for the elimination of viral hepatitis by 2030, according to the World Health Organization.
Through the Digital Public Health Platform (CIPHIS), the systematic collection and analysis of epidemiological data is sought to take effective measures. Mr. Damianos noted that information and early diagnosis are important for prevention, while the Ministry of Health is implementing awareness campaigns.
The Ministry of Health is promoting the training of Cypriot doctors in hepatology, with one doctor already at the University Hospital Tubingen. Regarding World Hepatitis Day, the Minister of Health stressed the need for information and action.
