EFET: Recall of gummies containing muscimol from hallucinogenic mushrooms
Share on:

EFET (Hellenic Food Authority) has announced the recall of gummies and related sweets containing muscimol, a substance derived from the mushroom Amanita muscaria.

The decision was made following a consumer complaint and laboratory tests by the Attica Regional Directorate of EFET. The products are distributed by EC STEVIA AE and sold by SMOKE CARTEL EE stores.

The presence of muscimol makes the products unsafe and harmful to health, according to Article 14 of Regulation (EC) 178/2002. Some products bear indications such as 'for decorative purposes only,' but are considered food due to their form.

EFET has demanded the immediate recall of all products and calls on consumers not to consume similar products that mention the presence of muscimol or Amanita muscaria.
