Promising mRNA Vaccine Against Cancer

A novel mRNA vaccine, currently in the trial phase, has sparked hopes in the fight against cancer. A study by the University of Florida, published in Nature Biomedical Engineering, shows that the vaccine rejuvenates the immune system instead of targeting specific tumor proteins.
Duane Mitchell, M.D. Ph.D, co-author of the study, stated that the vaccine stimulates a strong immunological response, triggering an anti-cancer reaction. Dr. Elias Sayour, a pediatric oncologist at the University of Florida, mentioned that the results indicate that even a non-specific mRNA vaccine can lead to tumor-specific effects.
The research team is planning clinical trials in humans. The results suggest potential for a universal cancer vaccine that would activate and prepare the immune system for combined action with drugs.
