Princess Mette-Marit of Norway's Health Worsens

Princess Mette-Marit of Norway's health is deteriorating as she battles chronic pulmonary fibrosis. The palace announced in December that her condition has worsened, making a lung transplant now imperative.
The princess, wife of Crown Prince Haakon, has not appeared publicly since January 28. She was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, a serious lung condition, in 2018.
According to a palace statement, recent tests showed a clear deterioration, leading doctors to evaluate her for a lung transplant. The palace's head of communications stated that the princess needs more care, rest, and rehabilitation.
Mette-Marit had taken sick leave and canceled public appearances in September 2023 and October 2024.
