A healthy baby boy was born in the USA from an embryo that had been frozen for 30 years. The embryo was created in 1994 and donated by the original mother, Linda Archerd, to the couple Lindsey and Tim Pierce.

According to the BBC, the Pierce couple welcomed their son, Thaddeus Daniel Pierce, through in vitro fertilization. Lindsey Pierce stated that her family felt like they were starring in a science fiction movie.

It is believed to be the longest period an embryo has been frozen before leading to a successful birth, breaking the previous record in 2022. Linda Archerd, the original mother, covered the storage costs for years until finding a suitable solution through a Christian embryo adoption service.

The implantation took place at the Rejoice Fertility clinic in Tennessee. Lindsey Pierce stated that they simply wanted to have a child. Linda Archerd has not yet met the baby but sees similarities with her daughter.
