Miracle Birth: Embryo Frozen for 30 Years is Born

A baby has been born from an embryo that had been frozen for 30 years, causing surprise and wonder. Thaddeus Daniel Pierce was born on July 26th in Ohio, from an embryo that was frozen in May 1994.
Lindsey, 34, and Tim Pierce, 35, from London, Ohio, chose embryo adoption through in vitro fertilization. The embryo had been created three decades ago.
"We had a difficult delivery but now we are both well," said Lindsey Pierce. "He is so calm. We can't believe we are holding this precious baby in our arms."
Lydia Arcered, 62, the woman who donated the embryo, had frozen four embryos with her then-husband in the early 1990s. One of the embryos was transferred in 1994, leading to the birth of a daughter, who is now 30 years old and has her own 10-year-old daughter.
Lydia chose the "embryo adoption" program of Nightlight Christian Adoptions, which allows donors and adoptive parents to get to know each other.
