Cyprus' GHS: Reduced Wait Time for Sensitive Test Results

The Health Insurance Organisation (HIO) announced that from February 25, 2026, the time for sensitive laboratory and histopathological test results to appear in the GHS beneficiary's file is reduced from 30 to 15 days.

The regulation mainly concerns tests including cancer markers, biopsies, viruses affecting the liver, sexually transmitted diseases, and other tests for which it is deemed important that the treating physician provides the information.

This aims to give the physician enough time to evaluate the results and inform the beneficiary, ensuring appropriate medical guidance.

The adjustment aims to provide timely and responsible information to beneficiaries on sensitive medical issues.
