Georgiadis: The National Healthcare System is Functional and Safe, in Best Condition Ever

Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis defended the National Healthcare System (ESY) in a post on "X", responding to complaints about the lack of a pediatric cardiologist at the Chania Hospital.

Mr. Georgiadis explained that regional hospitals are not required to have all specialties and that the Chania Hospital is not expected to have a pediatric cardiologist. He mentioned that there is a pediatric cardiology unit at PAGNI in Heraklion.

The minister stressed that the ESY remains functional and safe and is in the best condition it has ever been, despite the problems it faces.

The reason for the post was a video of a mother who expressed complaints about the lack of a pediatric cardiologist at the Chania Hospital, after her daughter's hospitalization.

Georgiadis emphasized that the lack of specialized knowledge regarding what is provided and what is not in the ESY creates problems and a bad image for the system.
