In the USA, a baby was born from an embryo that had been frozen for 30 years. Thaddeus Daniel Pierce was born on July 26th in Ohio, to 35-year-old Lindsey Pierce and her 34-year-old husband, Tim Pierce, through embryo adoption and in vitro fertilization.

The embryo was created in May 1994 by Archerd and her then-husband, who had undergone IVF. One of the embryos was used to give birth to their daughter, who is now 30 years old, while the rest were frozen. After her divorce, Archerd decided to donate the embryos to a couple who would "adopt" them. The Pierces were selected and had Thaddeus Daniel Pierce.

Lindsey Pierce stated that she is thrilled with the arrival of the baby. Archerd noted the resemblance of Thaddeus to her daughter when she was a baby.
