Foods That May Drastically Reduce Heart Failure Risk

A new study suggests that consuming foods rich in potassium, such as avocados, bananas, and spinach, can significantly reduce the risk of heart failure.
According to the research, increased potassium intake may lower the risk of heart disease, hospitalization, and death by 24%. Professor Henning Bundgaard, the lead author of the study, emphasized the importance of a potassium-rich diet for heart function.
The study, involving 1,200 heart patients in Denmark, showed that dietary increase of potassium levels in the blood was associated with a significantly lower risk of heart problems. Researchers recommend consuming foods such as white beets, beetroot, and cabbage.
Dr. Carrie Ruxton, a dietitian, pointed out that increasing potassium intake is just as important as reducing salt consumption for preventing strokes and heart attacks. Dr. Soni Bhabu-Narayan advises increasing potassium intake through diet, including more potassium-rich vegetables and fruits.
Caution: Excessive potassium intake through supplements can be dangerous and should only be done with medical advice.
