Colon Cancer: What are the warning symptoms?

Colon cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer worldwide. The causes are not always clear, but unhealthy habits increase the risk.

Dimitrios Mousiolis, General Surgeon, Director of the 10th Surgical Clinic at Metropolitan General, states that most cases begin as polyps, which are often asymptomatic.

Important symptoms that require attention:

  • Changes in bowel habits: Diarrhea, constipation, narrower stools.
  • Blood in the stool: Should never be considered normal and requires immediate investigation.
  • Abdominal symptoms: Frequent abdominal pain, cramps, bloating, excessive gas production.
  • Unexplained weight loss: Requires investigation.

Mr. Mousiolis emphasizes that these symptoms may be due to other conditions, but they require investigation. If symptoms persist for more than four weeks, a thorough diagnostic check is required.

At the 10th Surgical Clinic of Metropolitan General, any worrying symptoms are thoroughly investigated, and the appropriate treatment plan is developed.
