Protecting Pets: How to Guard Against Insects

Spring and summer increase the risk of insects to pets. Some bites cause simple irritation, while others transmit serious diseases.
Mosquitoes: They can transmit parasites such as heartworm. Avoid stagnant water.
Stink bugs: Ingestion causes gastrointestinal problems, such as diarrhea and vomiting.
Poisonous spiders and bees: The Black Widow causes neuromuscular damage, while bees cause allergic reactions.
Ants: They bite the animal, causing irritation. Clean food containers regularly.
Cockroaches: They contaminate food, carrying bacteria. Do not leave food exposed.
Pine processionary caterpillar: Its toxic hairs cause inflammation and respiratory problems. Immediate contact with a veterinarian is required.
Check your pet regularly and visit the vet if you notice changes.
