Cyprus: Increased Visits to ER due to Dust

After almost two days, the dust wave that hit Cyprus subsided, causing problems and increased visits to hospitals.
Charalambos Charilaou, press representative of OKYPY, stated that several citizens visited the Accident and Emergency Departments (ER) with respiratory problems and allergy symptoms, aggravated by the dust.
Dr. Haris Armeftis, President of the Cyprus Respiratory Society, mentioned that international studies show an increase in hospital admissions and deaths during periods of increased concentration of dust particles.
Panagiotis Georgiou, a meteorological officer, reassured that no new dust wave is expected next week. The weather will improve with sunshine and temperatures around 20-22 degrees Celsius, while temporary clouds may bring isolated rains.
