New Schizophrenia Treatment Developed by Israeli Researchers

Researchers from Rambam Medical Center in Israel have developed a new method of deep brain stimulation (DBS) for patients with schizophrenia.
According to the Hebrew news agency Mako, the method aims to restore functions that control movement, learning, and decision-making.
The findings were published in the scientific journal Nature Communications. Dr. Nir Asch, who led the study, stated that the method may broaden treatment options for patients who do not respond to existing therapies.
Asch claims that the method may serve as a basis for treating cognitive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia that are resistant to medication.
