Peak-End Rule: How it Improves Your Workout

The Peak-End Rule explains how we remember experiences, including workouts. We don't remember every moment equally, but emphasize the most intense moment (peak) and the end.
What is the Peak-End Rule? Described in the early 90s, it's based on the "Law of Effect." We don't remember an experience like a "movie" from beginning to end, but mainly two points: the peak and the end.
Why does it make exercise more enjoyable? It influences whether we want to repeat an activity. A study in the Journal of Sport and Exercise Psychology showed that workouts with more "peaks" and a satisfying end improved mood recall and enhanced consistency.
How to apply it:
- Note every peak: Pay attention to moments of joy.
- Don't get stuck in monotony: Let your mind wander.
- Create a happy ending: Relax the tension and listen to pleasant music.
Intention is enough, no need for overexertion.
