A new study suggests that daily multivitamin intake may slow down biological aging in older adults. The research, led by researchers at the American healthcare system Mass General Brigham, was published in the scientific journal Nature Medicine.

The study was based on data from the Cocoa Supplement and Multivitamin Outcomes Study (COSMOS) clinical trial. Researchers analyzed DNA methylation data from blood samples of 958 healthy participants, with an average age of 70 years. Participants were divided into groups receiving multivitamins, cocoa extract, or a placebo.

The results showed that multivitamin intake was associated with a slowdown in biological aging markers. Howard Sesso, Associate Director of the Division of Preventive Medicine at Mass General Brigham, emphasized that the study opens the way for further research on interventions for healthier aging.
