Early Menopause Linked to Increased Heart Disease Risk

A new study reveals that early menopause is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease in women.
According to the research, women who experience menopause before the age of 40 face an approximately 40% higher risk of developing coronary heart disease compared to those who enter menopause later in life.
The causes of early menopause are not fully understood, but are likely related to genetic, biological, and environmental factors. The study, published in the journal 'JAMA Cardiology', analyzed data from more than 10,000 women in the USA.
It was also found that early menopause is three times more common in black women than in white women (15.5% vs. 4.8%).
Researchers emphasize that doctors should systematically ask women about their age of menopause onset in order to identify women at higher risk early on.
