Serum Layering: Effective and Safe Skincare Hierarchy

Serum layering is a method to enhance the effectiveness of your skincare routine. The goal is to maximize active ingredients while avoiding irritation.
Steps for Serum Layering:
- Apply the lightest, watery serums first, followed by richer textures.
- Use no more than two or three serums.
- Apply serums to slightly damp skin.
- Allow 30–60 seconds between each layer.
Combinations:
- Vitamin C in the morning, Retinol in the evening.
- AHA/BHA and Retinol on different days.
- Hyaluronic Acid enhances hydration.
After serums, use moisturizer and sunscreen in the morning.
Routine:
- Cleansing (and toner).
- Serum #1 (e.g., Hyaluronic Acid).
- Serum #2 (e.g., Vitamin C or Niacinamide).
- Optional Serum #3.
- Moisturizer.
- SPF in the morning.
Following these steps creates an effective skincare routine.
