Ahead of the new school year, the Veterinary Services and the General Chemical State Laboratory, within the framework of the #Safe2Eat-2025 campaign, provide advice for the safe nutrition of students.

Parents and teachers are encouraged to teach children to wash their hands thoroughly before and after eating and to use antiseptic gel when water and soap are not available.

For safe food preparation at home, it is recommended to cook food well (especially meat, chicken and eggs) and avoid foods that spoil easily outside the refrigerator (e.g. dairy products, cold cuts, mayonnaise). The child's food should be placed in an insulated bag with an ice pack.

In addition, it is suggested to choose dry snacks (e.g. bagel, breadsticks, nuts, fruit) and avoid foods that spoil easily in the heat. The expiration date must be checked on packaged foods.

Children should be informed not to exchange food or drinks with their classmates and to avoid foods that appear spoiled.

Parents should be informed about the quality and safety of food in canteens and encourage children to choose safe options.
