The first Greek satellites are expected to enter orbit ahead of the initial schedule. The National Space Program, overseen by the Ministry of Digital Governance and the Hellenic Space Center, with the technical supervision of the European Space Agency (ESA), is in full implementation phase and is funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

According to the Ministry, the goal is for Greece to immediately acquire operational capability in satellite data and services, contributing to environmental protection, addressing natural disasters and climate change, as well as national security and defense applications. Simultaneously, the aim is to strengthen the domestic space industry.

In November 2025, the launch of two operational Radar (SAR) technology satellites, manufactured by ICEYE, as well as three experimental microsatellites is planned. The launches of seven optical and four thermal satellites will follow, providing full daily coverage of the Greek territory.

The Minister of Digital Governance, Dimitris Papastergiou, stated to APE-MPE that Greece is acquiring its own "eyes" in space for the first time, enabling the charting of effective policies and the production of smart solutions.
