Meteorite Older Than Earth Hits House in Georgia

A meteorite fragment, over 4.56 billion years old, fell on a house near Atlanta, Georgia, in June, sparking the interest of geologists.
The material, believed to be older than the planet itself, originated from the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, according to University of Georgia geology professor Scott Harris.
Harris told Fox News Digital that many residents observed a fireball in the sky before the impact on June 26. After being notified, he visited the house and found that the fragment had pierced the roof and floor, leaving a hole "about the size of a small tomato."
The meteorite broke the sound barrier upon entering the atmosphere. "These objects come from the original material that formed before the formation of the planets and are building blocks of the rocky worlds," Harris explained.
Earth's age is estimated at 4.54 billion years, making this fragment older than the planet.
