Earth Experiencing One of Its Shortest Days in History

Today, humanity is expected to experience one of the shortest calendar days ever recorded, as the Earth completes its full rotation slightly faster than the standard 24 hours.
The difference compared to a normal day will be around 1.34 milliseconds. If this trend continues, it may require the implementation, for the first time in history, of removing one second from global time – known as a 'negative leap second' – around 2029.
The fastest day was recorded on July 5, 2024, when the Earth's rotation was completed 1.66 milliseconds earlier than normal. Today, July 24, the day is predicted to be 1.34 milliseconds shorter than the standard 24 hours.
According to experts, these small but calculable deviations can, over time, create technical problems in computing systems, telecommunications networks, and satellite services.
