Emma Thompson revealed that Donald Trump asked her on a date the day her divorce from Kenneth Branagh was finalized in 1998. The actress shared the story at the Locarno Film Festival.

According to Thompson, Trump invited her to stay at one of his properties and have dinner together. The proposal occurred while Thompson was filming the movie "Primary Colors." At the time, Trump had just divorced his second wife, Marla Maples.

Thompson humorously commented that Trump may have had people looking for "freshly divorced" women.
