Kathy Griffin: 'Divorce Was Harder Than Cancer'

Kathy Griffin has spoken about her divorce from Randy Bick, describing it as even harder than her battle with cancer.

The 64-year-old actress filed for divorce in 2023 after three years of marriage. The divorce was finalized in January.

Griffin was diagnosed with lung cancer two years before the divorce and underwent surgery to remove half of her left lung, which caused paralysis of her left vocal cord. She subsequently had surgery on her vocal cords to restore her voice.

In an interview, Griffin also spoke about her addiction to pills and her suicide attempt following the 2017 photo shoot with the mock decapitated head of Donald Trump.

After the breakup, she tried dating apps for three weeks but no longer uses them.

'My divorce took me out,' Griffin told PEOPLE. 'It was harder than cancer,' she confessed.

Referring to the difficulties she has faced, Griffin said: 'I've been through hardships, but one after another has taught me that, okay, you may not see the joke when you live it, but at some point it will be funny. There's comedy in everything.'
