Billy Joel: Revealing Documentary About the Pop Legend

A new HBO documentary titled Billy Joel: And So It Goes, explores the life and career of pop legend Billy Joel. The five-hour portrait includes rare insights into Joel's career, with support from his friends and collaborators.
Joel had withdrawn an advance for his memoirs in 2011, stating that he prefers to express himself through his music. The documentary attempts to respect this wish by prioritizing Joel's music.
Director Jessica Levin mentioned that over 110 of Joel's 121 songs were used in the film. The film thoroughly examines each album, while also delving into personal stories.
Despite his reluctance to talk about his life, Joel participated in 10 interviews for the film. His ex-wife, Elizabeth Weber, who also served as his manager, provides significant insights as well.
One of the highlights of the documentary is the revelation of the story behind the song Vienna, which was initially thought not to be about Joel's father.
The first part of the documentary premiered on HBO on July 18, and the second part on July 25.
