Francis Ford Coppola is auctioning off personal items, including seven watches from his collection, through Phillips auction house in New York on December 6th and 7th. The aim is to recoup some of the money lost from the production of the film 'Megalopolis', which grossed only $14.3 million worldwide, while costing over $120 million.

Coppola had financed the film with his own funds and in 2021 sold the majority of his winery, Inglenook. One of the watches to be auctioned is a unique piece he designed himself in collaboration with watchmaker François-Paul Journe.
