Paul McCartney: 'I Felt Dead After The Beatles' Breakup'

Paul McCartney confessed that he felt 'dead' after the breakup of The Beatles in 1970. In a new book titled 'Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run', the 83-year-old musician discusses the difficulties he faced.
Commenting on the rumors of 1966 that he was dead after a car accident and replaced by a double, McCartney said he felt the rumors were more accurate than he thought at the time.
'In so many ways, I was dead. A 27-year-old about to become an ex-Beatle, drowning in a sea of legal and personal squabbles that were sapping his energy, and in need of a complete life restart,' he writes.
McCartney sued John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr in 1970 to dissolve their partnership and prevent manager Allen Klein from controlling their finances.
Three years before the breakup, McCartney bought a farm in Scotland, which he used as a refuge after The Beatles disbanded.
