French Actor Tchéky Karyo Dies at 72

French actor Tchéky Karyo, of Turkish descent, known for his roles in films such as 'The Bear' and 'Nikita,' has died at the age of 72.

His family announced that Karyo lost his battle with cancer on Friday, October 31, and passed away in Brittany, France.

Born in Istanbul in 1953, Karyo rose to fame in the 1980s and participated in numerous international productions, including James Bond's 'GoldenEye.' He also collaborated with Jean-Pierre Jeunet ('Amélie') and Ridley Scott ('1492: Christopher Columbus').

In recent years, he became known for his role as Inspector Julien Baptiste in the series 'The Missing' and 'Baptiste'. In addition to acting, he was also involved in music.
