The Cure Guitarist Perry Bamonte Dies at 65

Perry Bamonte, guitarist for The Cure, has died at the age of 65, the band announced.
In a statement, The Cure said the British musician passed away “after a short illness, at home, over the Christmas period,” expressing “great sadness.” “Quiet, intense, intuitive and immensely creative, 'Teddy' was a vital part of The Cure's story,” they stated.
Bamonte initially joined the band as a touring crew member in 1984 and became a full member in 1990 after the departure of keyboardist Roger O’Donnell. He played guitar, keyboards, and bass on five studio albums and contributed to iconic songs such as Friday I’m in Love, High, and A Letter to Elise.
He also appeared on the live albums Paris and Show (1993) and participated in over 400 concerts. In 2022, he rejoined The Cure, playing with them until 2024. Former drummer Lol Tolhurst paid tribute to him with a post on Instagram.
