Tristan Rogers, 'General Hospital' Star, Dies at 79

Tristan Rogers, the actor known for his role as Robert Scorpio on the soap opera General Hospital, has died at the age of 79 after a short battle with lung cancer. His manager, Meryl Soodak, confirmed the news on August 15.

Rogers portrayed Scorpio for 45 years. "He loved the role of Scorpio and created it from scratch," Soodak said.

Frank Valentini, the show's executive producer, expressed his sadness: "The General Hospital family is heartbroken. Tristan captivated fans for 45 years… He was a unique talent who will be greatly missed."

Born in Melbourne, Australia, Rogers moved to the US in 1980 and immediately landed the role of Scorpio. His last appearance on the show was last month.

Tristan Rogers is survived by his wife, Teresa Parkerson, his two children, Sara and Cale, and a grandchild.
