Paul Mario Day, the first singer of Iron Maiden, has passed away at the age of 69. The news of his death was announced by his former band, More, through a post on social media.

Day was the 'voice' of Iron Maiden for about a year before being replaced by Paul Di'Anno and later by Bruce Dickinson, who became synonymous with the band.

The English musician took over the vocals of the band in 1976, when Steve Harris formed Iron Maiden. He played in their first concert on May 1, 1976, but was fired a year later because Harris did not think he had enough stage presence.

After Iron Maiden, Day went through various bands, including More, Wildfire, Sweet, Defaced, Crimzon Lake, and Buffalo Crows. One of his strongest moments was on December 29, 2018, when he participated in a reunion concert of the original Iron Maiden lineup.

In June 2025, he had announced that he was preparing new material for a new album. He passed away on July 29, after an unequal battle with cancer.
