Actor Brad Pitt is mourning the loss of his mother, Jane Etta Pitt, who passed away on Tuesday, August 5th, at the age of 84.

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Jane was a school counselor. She married William Pitt in 1962 and moved to Springfield, Missouri, where Brad and his siblings grew up.

The news of her death was shared by her granddaughter, Sydney Pitt, via Instagram, with a touching message.

Brad Pitt had mentioned on a television show that his mother was an avid viewer of the Today Show.

In 2009, the actor and his siblings donated $1 million to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, creating the Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center.
