Gerard Depardieu to Stand Trial for Rape

Actor Gerard Depardieu is to stand trial for rape and sexual assault against actress Charlotte Arnould, an incident that allegedly occurred in Paris in 2018.

Arnould, then 22, claimed that Depardieu raped and assaulted her on August 7 and 13, 2018. Depardieu has denied the charges, claiming their meeting was consensual.

The trial will proceed following a decision by the Paris court. Arnould's lawyer stated that her client feels relieved and optimistic about the case's progress.

In a separate trial, Depardieu was sentenced in May 2023 to 18 months suspended imprisonment for sexual assault against two women.
